About Klondike Solitaire
Klondike Solitaire is the card game most people picture when they hear the word solitaire, and this browser version keeps the rules you already know. Seven tableau columns, a stock to draw from, and four empty foundations are all there is, yet every deal plays out differently depending on what's buried under those face-down cards.
Part of the appeal is how quickly a hopeless-looking layout can open up after one good move. You'll spend most of a game weighing small choices: which column to dig into, whether to pull from the waste now, when to commit a card to the foundation. It suits anyone who wants a calm, thoughtful break, and the satisfaction of watching the last cards head home never really gets old.
How to play Klondike Solitaire
- Aim to move all 52 cards onto the four foundations, building each suit up from ace to king.
- In the tableau, place a face-up card on a card one rank higher and of the opposite color, such as a red 6 on a black 7.
- When you run out of moves, draw from the stock and play cards from the waste pile onto the tableau.
- Move face-up cards between tableau columns to uncover the face-down cards beneath them.
- Fill an empty tableau column only with a king.

Tips and tricks
- Prioritize moves that expose face-down cards; uncovering hidden cards is what opens up the game.
- Don't empty a column unless you have a king ready to move into it, since only kings can fill the gap.
- Work on the columns with the most face-down cards early, because they hide the cards you'll need later.
- Send aces and twos to the foundations right away, but think twice about mid-rank cards; you may need them in the tableau to hold cards of the opposite color.
