About FreeCell Solitaire
In FreeCell Solitaire, every card is dealt face up from the very first move, so there's no hidden information to blame when a game goes sideways. You get eight tableau columns, four free cells for temporary storage, and four foundations waiting to be filled from ace to king. The challenge comes down to pure planning.
That transparency is exactly why so many people love it. Each deal feels like a logic problem you can crack with enough care, and the free cells give you just enough breathing room to set up clever chains of moves. Fill them carelessly, though, and you'll quickly find yourself boxed in. It's a great match for anyone who prefers thinking over luck, and finishing a tricky deal you were sure was lost is deeply satisfying.
How to play FreeCell Solitaire
- Your goal is to move all 52 cards onto the four foundations, building each suit from ace up to king.
- In the tableau, place a card on one that is one rank higher and the opposite color.
- Move any top card into an empty free cell to store it temporarily, or into an empty tableau column.
- Use the free cells and empty columns to rearrange cards until every suit is complete on the foundations.

Tips and tricks
- Keep free cells empty as long as possible; every occupied cell limits what you can rearrange.
- Empty tableau columns are even more valuable than free cells, so think hard before dropping a single card into one.
- Look for buried aces and twos at the start of a deal and plan a route to free them early.
- Work out a sequence of moves in your head before you start; FreeCell rewards thinking several steps ahead.
