Quick Head-to-Head Matches
The fastest way to settle a rivalry is a one-key game. In Basket Random and Boxing Random, player one presses W, player two presses the up arrow, and that's the entire control scheme. The fun comes from floppy ragdoll physics and rules that change every point, so even a first-timer can win.
Rooftop Snipers adds one more button: each player can jump and shoot, and the goal is to knock the other off the roof. Basketball Legends has a deeper setup, with WASD plus a few letter keys for player one and the arrow keys plus K and L for player two. For a proper fighting game, Fighter Legends Duo gives each side its own punch, kick and special buttons.
Co-op Puzzles and Board Games
Not every two-player game is a competition. In Fireboy and Watergirl: Forest Temple, you work together, one player per character, to reach the exit, and later entries like Fireboy and Watergirl 5: Elements revisit all the earlier temples with new puzzles.
Turn-based games are the easiest to share, since you simply pass the mouse back and forth. Chess and Checkers cover the classics, and our own Pizza Tac Toe adds a 5x5 board for when three in a row gets too predictable. You'll find more in our card and board games and sports games.
Finding the Right Game for Your Pair
Match the game to the people playing. For two friends who rarely play games, the one-key Random titles keep things even. For players who like to practice and improve, Fighter Legends Duo and Basketball Legends have enough moves to reward learning them. Siblings or classmates who'd rather not compete can team up in Fireboy and Watergirl, and if the keyboard feels cramped, a turn-based game like Chess lets you share a single mouse without bumping elbows. Many of these games also have a CPU mode, so either of you can practice solo between rematches.
