Speed and Parkour Platformers
OvO is one of the most demanding games here: a fast, skill-based platformer where you chain moves together to clear each level as quickly as possible, with easy and hard modes and more than 20 coins scattered through the levels. The Vex series is built from acts of themed levels and is a great way to learn the basics. Start with Vex 4, which lets you press R to restart a level instantly, then move to Vex 6 for daily tasks and unlockable skins, and Vex 8 for its infinite mode.
Stickman Parkour keeps the controls to A, D and W, while Geometry Rush is simpler still: your shape moves forward on its own, and your only job is to jump at the right moment.
Puzzle Platformers and Co-op Adventures
Some platformers care more about thinking than reflexes. In Fireboy and Watergirl: Forest Temple, two characters share the screen and each can only touch their own element, so you press buttons and pull levers in the right order to get both to the exit. It works for one player or two on the same keyboard. Bob The Robber 2 is a stealth platformer about sneaking past cameras and guards, and Tomb of the Mask has you dashing from wall to wall, painting every corner of a maze.
Our original Slice Runner is an endless pizza-delivery run that fits nicely into a short break. If you enjoy vehicle stunts as much as jumping, our racing games include a Vex-themed bike game, and the puzzle games page has plenty more brain-teasers.
Tips for Tough Levels
Platformers are built on repetition, so failing is part of the plan. Use quick-restart keys like R in Vex 4 to jump straight back in instead of waiting, and focus on one tricky jump at a time rather than the whole level. Fixed layouts help you here: in Geometry Rush, the obstacles are in the same place every attempt, so each failure shows you exactly where the next jump needs to happen.
